Skills are easy to make in Claude, and they work best when you build them on top of your own expertise.
A skill is a short set of instructions Claude loads on its own when a task fits, and your first one can be any task you already do well and often.
Master a Single Task First
Think about how you actually got good at anything you do well. Probably not by trying ten new approaches in your first month. More likely you found one method, repeated it until you understood why it worked, then started branching out.
Choosing the Right Model
The model selector in Claude is one of those funny settings where I’ve come to learn most people fall into one of two buckets: Touch it once and forget or turn on the most powerful model and start.
